BUSH TO CONGRESS “GET IT TOGETHER”!!!

By: The Listener

Slow news morning. I guess it’s only natural considering yesterday’s historical economic decision. So in light of yesterday’s events I shall continue on with full coverage of the bailout startiiiiinnnnnnngggggg…NOW!!!

Bush urges congress to act on bailout

(USA Today) It appears President Bush is not so happy with the rejection of the $700 billion bailout yesterday afternoon. This morning he urged congress to reconsider the decision in order to save a failing economy.

According to USA Today “Bush said the troubled economy is depending on “decisive action on the part of our government.” He spoke a day after the House voted narrowly to defeat the massive relief measure that his administration and leading members of Congress had agreed was necessary.”

“The president said he acknowledges “this is a difficult vote for members of Congress”and that many are uncomfortable with what’s transpiring in the economy. But he also declared: “We’re in an urgent situation and consequences will grow worse each day we do not act. If our nation continues on this course, the economic damage will be painful and lasting.”

From what I read yesterday the house is going to vote again sometime soon. I believe the bill will be rewritten with a few changes so we’ll see how long that takes to make it to the floor. I’ll keep you posted.

“Beyonce to Get Lead Role in Disney Remake of Aida”…..

By: Always Young, Never Restless….

(Mediatakeout) Beyonce has been looking for a role to set herself up as a legitimate actress – and she may just have landed it. The platinum selling singer is VERY CLOSE to signing on to play the title character in Disney’s big budget remake of the movie AIDA.

Official word is set to be coming down any day now.

I am not a big Beyonce fan….but CONGRATULATIONS are in Order…..I wonder if she will be better than Toni B….I heard she did an awesome job on Broadway!!!!!

DOW FALLS 778 POINTS, WORST IN HISTORY!!!

By: The Listener

(CNN Money) I find myself blogging everytime I get. The Dow fell 778 points, the worst in stock market history, today after the rejection of the $710 billion bailout proposed by President Bush last week.

Accoriding to CNN Money “The day’s loss knocked out approximately $1.2 trillion in market value, the first post-$1 trillion day ever, according to a drop in the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000, the broadest measure of the stock market. The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost 777.68, surpassing the 684.81 loss on Sept. 17, 2001 – the first trading day after the September 11 attacks. However the 7% decline does not rank among the top 10 percentage declines.”

SO what you’re telling me is…the drop today was bigger than the drop on 9/11? Man this is something else. I don’t have any funny slogans or remarks for this one. We’re in for a dim future in this country. I hope the house goes back to renegotiate something that will work for Americans. The bailout was good but it needed a few more screws to be tightened before it was ready. For example, if the bailout was passed and the economy didn’t improve (gas, housing market etc.) then the nation would be stuck with more debt and citizens would be in twice as much personal debt as they are today…that could only lead to one thing…another great depression (do I hear the rise of another jazz movement???).

Hopefully this will have a positive outcome.
